The NWT Chamber of Commerce will host our Annual General Meeting on September 17, 2008, in Yellowknife. This year the event will be split into two sections.
The first portion, including a luncheon, the meeting, board elections and a strategic planning session, will take place in the newly renovated Copper Room at the Yellowknife Inn between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. This session will also feature a presentation by Martin Landry, project director for AMIT Ltd. - the NTCL/Mammoet joint-venture investigating the inland shipping potential to Fort McMurray, Alta., via the Beaufort Sea and Mackenzie, Slave and Athabasca Rivers.
In the evening, the festivities will shift to the Explorer Hotel and its Katimavik B room for our President's Reception and Dinner. This will start at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and the introduction of our new board, followed by dinner and a presentation by our keynote speaker Neil McCrank on his recently released report to the federal government on streamlining the regulatory regime in the Northwest Territories.
While members are encouraged to take part in the entire program, your Chamber understands your time is precious. With that in mind, delegates can register for both events or simply for the evening festivities.
Please get your registration forms in to John Curran, NWT Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is September 12.
Both Canadian North and First Air have agreed to provide discounted rates for members travelling from elsewhere in the NWT or Edmonton. A block of rooms has been reserved for out-of-town delegates at the Yellowknife Inn at a discounted rate. To ensure you get the special NWT Chamber of Commerce rate, please quote rate code "0809 NWTCHA" when contacting the hotel to make your reservation.
See you there!
