Canadian Chamber of Commerce Board seeks NWT Corporate Director

May 6th, 2009

The NWT Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking individuals interested in becoming the next Northwest Territories Corporate Director on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

“We will be recommending the names of interested individuals we feel are best suited for this volunteer position with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as it looks to make its selection later this year,” said NWT Chamber President Ann Marie Tout. “It is an important position as this individual will be expected to represent the interests of the entire NWT business community when attending Canadian Chamber Board and committee meetings.”

The successful candidate will be expected to attend quarterly Board meetings in person and participate in various conference calls depending on their committee involvement. The individual’s company or employer would also need to become a corporate member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce before their name would be allowed to go forward for the position.

“The NWT Corporate Director will also be invited to join the NWT Chamber for our monthly Board meetings in an ex-officio capacity,” added Tout. “If you are interested or know someone you think would be an engaged representative of the NWT on the national stage, the NWT Chamber needs to get a copy of their bio and resume by 5 p.m. on May 29 for consideration.”

Please submit your resume and biographical information via e-mail to admin@nwtchamber.com or fax it to 867-873-4174. An electronic copy of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Corporate Governance Manual has been posted in the Members Only Documents section of www.nwtchamber.com. If you require a username and password, please contact NWT Chamber Executive Director John Curran.

In association with the network of community Chambers of Commerce in Fort Simpson, Behchoko, Norman Wells, Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife as well as the Northern Aboriginal Business Association, the NWT Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of more than 865 members. For more than 35 years, it has been the only pan-territorial voice of businesses across all sectors of the Northern economy.
