NWT Chamber to award $2,500 annual scholarship

The NWT Chamber of Commerce is pleased to again offer a one-time scholarship grant to a qualified NWT student in an accredited business program for the upcoming school year.
“Collectively the Board recognizes that education plays a critical role in helping to grow the NWT economy,” said NWT Chamber President Ann Marie Tout. “We’re proud to once again make this scholarship available to a Northern student who hopes to eventually join the territorial business community.”
To be eligible for the $2,500 NWT Chamber scholarship you must be a citizen/permanent resident of Canada, have graduated from an NWT high school with a Grade 12 diploma, and be accepted by or enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution on a fulltime basis with a full course workload in an accredited business program.
Along with a completed application form, which is available online as a PDF download in the Public Documents section of www.nwtchamber.com, your submission package will need to include:
- A cover letter explaining your enrollment in a business program and your personal/career goals as well as a recent photograph of yourself.
- Copies of your acceptance letter and your most recent school transcripts.
- At least two (2) letters of reference from non-family members.
Applications can be submitted via e-mail to admin@nwtchamber.com or mailed to the NWT Chamber Scholarship Committee, #13 Yk Centre, 4910-50th Avenue, Yellowknife, NT, X1A 3S5.
The deadline for applications is Aug. 21, 2009. Members of the NWT Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will select a winner from all valid applications no later than mid-September.
