NWT Chamber and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment celebrate early success of “Made in the NWT” campaign

September 11th, 2009

The NWT Chamber of Commerce and Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment are pleased to report the “Made in the NWT” promotional campaign has, thus far, been a tremendous success.

In just two months, the Program – which is designed to help highlight Northwest Territories-based manufacturers – has already received orders for its entire first order of printed labels.

“We’re thrilled with the initial response from the manufacturing sector,” said NWT Chamber President Ann Marie Tout. “It’s clear northern companies see value in letting people know their goods are made in the NWT and we will be having more labels printed as soon as possible.”

With the support of ITI, “Made in the NWT” stickers are distributed to any requesting manufacturers free of charge through the Chamber office. When potential customers see the “Made in the NWT” label, they will recognize the jobs and other economic benefits tied to this sector and consider those before making their purchasing decision.

“We at ITI have been very pleased to work with the Chamber on the “Made in NWT” promotional campaign” said Minister Bob McLeod. “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this project on its initial success and encourage Northerners to look for the “Made in the NWT” label when shopping.”

Manufacturers can obtain labels by clicking on the “Made in the NWT” link on the Chamber’s website, www.nwtchamber.com. Simply complete the electronic form and allow a couple of weeks for delivery.
