Prospects North teams with Aboriginal Business Conference in October 2010

September 30th, 2009

The NWT Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it will partner with the organizers of the annual NWT Aboriginal Business Conference and the Northern Aboriginal Business Association next fall when it comes time to present Prospects North 2010.

The as of yet unnamed event will bring together business leaders from around the North and beyond – both aboriginal and otherwise – and look to build from the recent success of the 2009 Aboriginal Business Conference, which attracted 30 per cent more delegates this year compared to 2008.

“This is the premier aboriginal business event in the NWT because we really do capture the whole economy here in these three days,” said Darrell Beaulieu, President and CEO of Denendeh Investments Inc., which has co-ordinated the event for each of the past four years.

“Our purpose is to promote economic co-operation and we are again demonstrating this by working with the NWT Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Aboriginal Business Association (NABA) to deliver next year’s conference.”

The combined 2010 NWT Aboriginal Business Conference and Prospects North will be held during the first week of October at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife.

“By bringing our two events together, we hope to provide even more value for the delegates, trade show exhibitors and sponsors who make it all possible,” said Ann Marie Tout, President of the NWT Chamber.

“One of the themes that we’ve heard a great deal about during the Aboriginal Business Conference is the importance of having a foot in both worlds – business and tradition – it’s our hope that by combining our events we’ll bring those two worlds that much closer together.”
