Indonesian delegation received at NWT Chamber office
October 15th, 2009
Yesterday the NWT Chamber of Commerce was visited by representatives from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia and received a presentation on the island nation.
Led by Consul Wibanarto and Vice Consul Ary Aprianto, the session focused on investment opportunities and included an economic overview of their home country.
Among the potential highlights for NWT Chamber of Commerce members, you may be interested to learn:
- Indonesia “exported” more than 748,000 migrant workers in 2008;
- It has begun developing its geothermal energy potential;
- It is home to several producing mines, mineral exploration targets as well as several oil and gas installations, and;
- Its businesses face many communication and transportation challenges caused by distance, climate and isolation.
A PDF version of the presentation is available for download from the Members Only – Documents section of www.nwtchamber.com. If you have misplaced you username and password to access this portion of the site, please email admin@nwtchamber.com requesting they be resent.
Thanks are also due to the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, and more specifically Sonya Saunders and Dan Westman, who delivered a similar presentation focused on the NWT in return to our guests.
In association with the network of community chambers of commerce in Fort Simpson, Behchoko, Norman Wells, Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife as well as the Northern Aboriginal Business Association, the NWT Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of more than 865 members. For more than 35 years, it has been the only pan-territorial voice of businesses across all sectors of the Northern economy.
