NWT Chamber adds HR management support services to Member Rewards Program

November 17th, 2009

The NWT Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce another addition to its ever-growing Member Rewards Program with the potential to benefit any company that faces human resource issues.

Through a new partnership with service provider Hotline to HR, NWT Chamber members can subscribe to have 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week access to a virtual human resources department capable of delivering real time up-to-date current information allowing your organization to reduce its financial and legal exposure.

“We are again pleased to be enhancing the range of services available through our Member Rewards Program,” said NWT Chamber President Ann Marie Tout. “For many Northern companies HR support is often a function that can fall through the cracks – this new service will better equip businesses to stay on top of these critical issues which can cost your operation dearly if left unchecked.”

Hotline to HR’s suit of services encompasses all aspects of human resource management including: industrial and construction health and safety; Workers Safety Compensation Commission issues; disciplinary and termination issues; employee relations; legislative compliance, and; performance management.

“We are delighted to offer our services with the NWT Chamber of Commerce and the chamber network in the North – together we are empowering employers everywhere,” said Enzo Logozzo, of Hotline to HR. “We see the value of the Chamber network and we believe that our service is an asset and a key component to growth for all business members within the network.”

A subscription entitles your company to the following: unlimited and convenient access to an HR professional 24/7; customized policies, letters and other documentation; template documents such as job descriptions, employment policies, task and hazard analysis; customized wage information specific to your industry and geographical location; information on best practices; weekly HR-related information updates through newsletters, legislative briefs, and sample policies and procedures, and; government compliance documents based on geographical location.

“This new service will also be available to all of the NWT Chamber’s regular members – the community chambers of commerce and the Northern Aboriginal Business Association – at no cost,” said NWT Chamber Executive Director John Curran. “Meaning if they choose to register with Hotline to HR, community chambers in the NWT will be able to make these services available to their members as well.”

As part of this new partnership Hotline to HR is proud to provide a free employee handbook, valued at $500 to any subscribing NWT Chamber members. One of the biggest advantages of issuing an employee handbook to workers is to establish a uniform employment policy. To maintain a good hallmark of employee relations, an employee handbook defines and codifies the employer’s standards. These defined and communicated standards allow employers to ensure they treat all of their employees consistently on a long-term basis.

The NWT Chamber Member Rewards Program also includes special rates on processing financial transactions, online training opportunities, custom framing and fine art purchases at Birchwood Gallery, and group insurance benefits through the Chamber Plan. As well, the program gives Associate Members access to our own suite of exclusive business-to-business marketing tools.

In association with the network of community chambers of commerce in Fort Simpson, Inuvik, Behchoko, Norman Wells, Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife as well as the Northern Aboriginal Business Association, the NWT Chamber of Commerce represents the interests of more than 865 members. For more than 35 years, it has been the only pan-territorial voice of business across all sectors of the Northern economy.
