NWT Chamber applauds release of JRP report

December 31st, 2009

The much-ballyhooed Joint Review Panel (JRP) report has now been released and the leadership of the NWT Chamber of Commerce will begin its review of this extensive document.

In its assessment of the environmental and socio-economic impacts of the proposed Mackenzie Gas Project, the JRP said “the Mackenzie Gas Project and associated Northwest Alberta Facilities would provide the foundation for a sustainable northern future. The challenge to all will be to build on that foundation.”
Titled Foundation for a Sustainable Northern Future, the Panel’s report is available online by clicking on this link.
“The NWT Chamber Board of Directors will certainly undertake a review of the JRP report in 2010, but we would also encourage all members of the business community to review the documents for themselves and share their own feelings with either our organization or their own local chamber of commerce,” said NWT Chamber President Ann Marie Tout.
“This report was certainly long enough in the making. With this hurdle now out of the way hopefully the process can accelerate and this critical piece of infrastructure for the North will become a reality in the not too distant future.”
