President's Message

The NWT Chamber is a vital champion for businesses across the 33 communities of the Northwest Territories. We connect entrepreneurs—from remote outfitters to major corporations—with governments, industry partners, and each other to foster sustainable growth. We advocate for sensible policy, support members through networking, training, referrals, insurance access, and amplify your voice on territorial and national stages . As President, I’m committed to ensuring every business in the North benefits from our programs, partnerships, and unwavering advocacy—together, we build a stronger, more prosperous Northwest Territories.

Half a Century of Representing Northern Business Interests

Established in 1973, the NWT Chamber of Commerce supports sustainable business growth across the Northwest Territories through advocacy, networking, and partnerships. With its head office in Yellowknife, the Chamber represents businesses in all 33 communities, from small local enterprises to major corporations. It advocates for the private sector, especially in the face of regulatory challenges and shifting political priorities. During the pandemic, it provided grants and launched the #shopNWT campaign to help businesses stay afloat. Members benefit from networking, business referrals, training, insurance access, and national representation. Funding comes primarily from memberships, sponsorships, advertising, and some government support for attending or hosting business events and trade shows.

Our Next Strategic Plan

The Northwest Territories Chamber of Commerce is currently undertaking the development of a new Strategic Plan to help guide the organization’s priorities, advocacy efforts, and support for businesses across the Northwest Territories in 2026 and beyond. This updated plan will reflect the evolving needs of northern industry, economic development opportunities, and the voices of our members and partners. We encourage visitors to check back at a later date for updates and to review the finalized Strategic Plan once it has been completed and approved.
